Jill is a female German shepherd who is estimated to be about 2 years old. She, along with 40 other German shepherds, were found living in horrific conditions in a home in Memphis, TN. Rescuers brought them to safety and 7 of the shepherds came to us at Char-Wills German Shepherd Rescue. We have no history on these dogs, but they are settling in at our rescue kennel and their personalities are shining through. They are almost ready to find their forever homes. Meet & Greets are available now, and the dogs can go home with their new families after they are spayed & neutered. Each dog will need a family with patience and understanding, as they acclimate to home life. It takes some dogs a long time to realize that they are now safe and their next meal is guaranteed. They must not be expected to acclimate immediately - the process often takes at least a few months.
Jill is a young, friendly, fun-loving girl who can't wait for her fresh, happy new life to begin. She met our resident kitty Tony, and didn't mind him at all. Out in the play yard, Jill has fun playing with the friendly male shepherds too. She is only about 60lbs, but she does have a big bark! Volunteers have been taking all of the dogs on walks several times per day, and Jill is really getting the hang of walking nicely on the leash. Her neglected past is but a distant memory, and she is eager to make new memories with a loving family.
Unfortunately, Jill has tested positive for heartworms and will require treatment to get rid of them. Treatment will be paid for by Char-Wills when done at our vet's office in Hometown, PA. Jill is seeking a Foster or Foster-to-Adopt home within 1 hour of Hometown, PA as her treatments will require 3 separate visits to the veterinarian's office.
Jill has been micro-chipped, de-wormed, and vaccinated. She is on Flea/Tick/HW prevention, and will be spayed prior to adoption.
