FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Who must come to the Meet & Greet?
All Adults, Children and dogs living in the house. If a family member, children, visitors or other dogs frequently visit you, it is crucial the new dog gets along with them as well, so please bring them.

If you have a dog, please make sure they are current on their Bordetella vaccination as stress may develop into kennel cough, even if vaccinated.

Adoptions WILL NOT take place unless ALL family members and current dogs are present
Available dogs WILL NOT be shown unless ALL family members and current dogs are present.

  • When should I schedule a Meet & Greet?
While we look forward to meeting you and finding a new family member for you, please do not schedule a Meet & Greet until you are ready to adopt. Scheduling a Meet & Greet to view the facility or the dogs prevents another person who would like to adopt a dog that day. For example, if you have vacation scheduled shortly, wait until you return to schedule your Meet and Greet.

  • When can I schedule a Meet & Greet?
Meet & Greets can be scheduled:
        Wednesday: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
        Friday: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
        Weekends: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Appointments are scheduled on the hour.

  • Do I need pre-approval to make an appointment to visit dogs at the rescue?
Yes, appointments to meet adoptable dogs are limited to pre-approved adopters, so fill out an application!

  • How long are approved applications valid for?
Once you become an approved adopter, you have one year to adopt a dog before you need to re-apply.

  • If I see a dog on the website that I like, will you hold it for us until we get there?
We do not "hold " dogs for anyone, as it can result in a dog missing an opportunity to find their forever home. Your appointment does not guarantee the availability of the dog you are interested in.

  • Can I bring my current dog(s) to the rescue?
Yes. We require you bring any current dogs (and human members of your household) if you plan on adopting a dog.

  • Can I take a dog home that same day as my appointment?
Definitely! On rare occasions, your new dog may not be altered (spayed/neutered) when you meet them, in which case you'd have to wait to take the dog home until after altering, which usually happens within one week.

  • Can I adopt any dog I want?
Our kennel staff are familiar with the dogs and will show you dogs which may be a good fit for your family and lifestyle. Our #1 Priority is the safety of the humans, existing pets, and the new rescue dog. Generally, we avoid placing females with females as that has proven to frequently cause issues in the home. Large energetic dogs may not be best in a home with small dogs, very young children or people with severe mobility issues. We reserve the right to deny an adoption where the well being of any humans or animals are compromised.

  • Do we need to have a fence to adopt a dog?
While we love adopters that have fenced in yards for their dogs to play in, you do not need to have a fenced in yard to adopt.

  • Do any current animals we have need to be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccines?
Yes, we require that all animals in your household are kept up to date on their vaccines and that they are spayed/neutered.

  • What happens if I get home and there is an issue?
Please call the Rescue if there are any issues. We will be more than happy to help try to solve the problem. If  a dog is listed as cat/dog/kid friendly, it is information we have received or what we have observed, but it does not guarantee compatibility. While we strive to match the right dog with the right family, sometimes it just does not work. If for any reason you are unable to keep the dog, it must be returned to us.
